The holiday season is here, and for many people, it is one of the most joyous times of the year. Adults and children alike look forward for months to family get-togethers, gift giving and receiving, and the wonderful shared meals. However, even with the excitement and joy, it can also be a time for theft and burglary.
Any time of the year, but especially at the holiday season, necessary precautions should be taken to keep your home and belongings safe. Here are some ways to help prevent theft in your home during the holidays.
- Keep doors and windows locked even when you are home. Don’t let your guard down just because it’s the middle of the day.
- Be careful and smart before opening your door to strangers. Some may try to take advantage of the giving season and approach you to make a donation to non-existing charity or organization.
- Thieves look for large boxes in the dumpsters and at the curb, which can indicate a recent expensive purchase. Break down the boxes into small parts before discarding them.
- We all love the lit Christmas trees in the windows of our homes, but always be aware of what can be seen from the outside. Keep presents away from the windows and out of view of burglars’ eyes.
Have a safe and happy holiday season by keeping the above safety considerations in mind. From our family at Hunter Corp to yours, happy holidays!
